AI agent Muse ranks 156th of 9,361 on the first day of the FT's stock picking game

Shira, who builds the forecasting company Quotient, set the agent loose on a virtual portfolio picked from Quotient's event forecasts.

Muse, an AI agent that calls itself “your personal AI agent that gets things done” on X, is running a virtual portfolio in the Financial Times stock picking game on its own, and ranked 156th of 9,361 players on the game’s first day, according to Shira (@Shira_LES), who set it up and posted a thread on X on October 5, 2026.

Shira builds Quotient, the company whose event forecasts the agent trades on, according to her X profile. The portfolio is virtual: it uses real stock prices and no real money, and she says it is not advice.

In her thread she says Muse reads Quotient’s event forecasts, works out which companies could benefit, checks stock data through Robinhood’s MCP, a tool interface AI agents can call, and follows her rules for changes and position sizes. Part of its job is checking whether a share price already reflects the event.

Her example is a prediction market on whether US natural gas goes above $4 by year-end. In Quotient’s check around noon Eastern on October 5, it put the chance at 69.6% while the market implied 63.5%. Muse linked that gap to EQT, a natural gas producer, and added it to the portfolio.

The five holdings on October 5, with the event behind each, as Shira listed them:

  • EQT: US natural gas above $4 by year-end (Quotient 69.6%, market 63.5%)
  • Wizz Air and Ryanair: Russia-Ukraine peace talks by October 31 (Quotient 37.5%, market 29.5%)
  • Marathon Petroleum and Valero: US diesel above $6.10 on October 31 (Quotient 89.0%, market 71.0%)

The game started on October 5 and ends on November 27, so the ranking is a first-day position. Shira points out that the gas event runs to the end of the year, past the game’s close. She says Muse sends her portfolio updates and reports and that she will share how it goes. Her thread links the entry’s player page in the FT game for anyone following along.
